For over 23 years Positive Action in Housing a Scottish based refugee and migrant homelessness and human rights charity SC027577 has been working to enable families and individuals to rebuild their lives free from poverty homelessness racism or inequality We offer free advice information and practical support We campaign for a just asylum policy and challenge the Hostile environment We proactively support refugees in Europe to rebuild their livesWe run a free confidential and independent homelessness advice service We provide advice and information to survivors of racial harassment We provide money advice and financial skills We support migrants to gain the necessary paperwork to secure employment selfemployment and stabilise their lives We run an Emergency Hardship Fund for those in greatest need We provide free shelter for destitute refugees and their families through a UK network of over 4000 volunteers through our pioneering refugee hosting scheme Room for Refugees We provide volunteering and sessional work opportunities We inform social policy from a userled perspective We deliver training and best practice We lead human rights campaigns and humanitarian appeals most recently for refugees trying to reach Europe We routinely highlight individual injustices to increase public awareness We persistently challenge the xenophobic rhetoric directed at refugees by governments and the media
