Montane Spine Race - Border Search and Rescue Unit

Hi my name is Duncan Buchanan and I intend to run in the brutal Montane Spine Race which is a 268 mile non-stop race up the entire Pennine Way from Edale to Kirk Yetholm, where I am a team member of the local Scottish Mountain Rescue team, Border Search and Rescue Unit (BSARU). I will be running the race to try and raise funds so we can build a base.

Based at Kelso we provide a search and rescue service from the English border up to Edinburgh. The team is run by volunteers. At the moment we operate out of a basic 3 bay garage but we are in the process of raising funds so we can have a more suited base, with storage for vehicles, a clean heated storage room for equipment, a training area and most importantly a toilet and washing facilities. We are one of the only teams in the country with no toilet facilities at our base!

The base will also provide a chill out space for team members if there has been a particularly traumatic callout so afterwards they can talk and get advise if needed.

Please support our team by donating below, and watch our progress along the 'Spine' of Britain - I am dot number 123.

The race starts on Sunday 12th January at 8am and runs until Sunday 19th January 8am - although I hope to finish it before then!

Start Jan 12th, 8am,
Finish Jan 19th, 8am
