Assist is a registered charity based in Withington Methodist Church which has been running successfully since 1969 supporting older people in our local community of Withington and including parts of Fallowfield and Didsbury Many people are living longer and friends and relatives many not be close byOur main focus is reducing social isolation and loneliness among older people This may involve some practical help but more importantly we provide a welcoming place to visit and a friendly voice at the end of the phone Our vision is of an integrated society that values the contribution of all its members regardless of age ability or background Through encouraging volunteering and supporting our volunteers we aim to empower people to make a difference in their local community
